MANNFORD PTO
Meeting Minutes  -  September 17, 2015
  • The meeting was called to order by Kindra Caruthers
  • Handouts:  Agenda, 2016 School Supplies purchased list
  • Minutes from the August meeting were reviewed.
  • The Treasurer’s report was reviewed and approved.

REMINDERS:  Everyone needs to fill out a new membership form and pay the annual dues.  Background checks for school volunteers must be completed each year.  The forms are available at the administration office.
OLD BUSINESS
  • Back-to-School Supplies – Traci McKnight – mcknight.traci@yahoo.com  918-804-9924.  The PTO is planning to pre-sell school supplies for the 2015-2016 school year for PK thru 5th grade.  Patti Nelson volunteered to chair the project for the spring of 2016.  We voted to keep the reduced price supplies that have been purchased ($451) for next year.
  • Teacher Expense Reimbursement – Abby Cook - ab2ycook@gmail.com 918-237-3384.  This year teachers can submit their expense receipts and one winner per location will be drawn at the end of each month. Each winner will receive a $25 check from the PTO. UPDATE:  Boxes and flyers have been distributed to the MECC, Lower, Upper and Middle schools.  First drawing will be the end of September.
  • Student of the Month – Lower elementary.  PTO will purchase medals for the Lower to use for a Student of the month program next year.  The school will need 32 each for 9 months for a total of 288.  UPDATE:  The medals will be given to Miss Aimee.  The PTO may have a representative at the assembly to help hand them out to students.  This item is closed.
  • Upper Elementary Playground –  Patti Nelson –
The playground project is on hold until the bond issue is decided.  It’s possible the school will put a new gym building in the playground area.  UPDATE:  Patti will follow up with Mr. Norman for the October meeting.  If the school doesn’t want any improvements made to the playground the PTO will decide how to spend the money allocated for this project.
  • School Dance – Kindra Caruthers – kcaruthers@ahb-ok.com 918-284-4249.  The group discussed ideas for making the Mummies & Monsters Dance this fall fun for the boys.  Possibly face painting, etc.  More to follow.  UDPATE:  The dance will be Friday October 23rd.  The committee was formed, more info to follow.
  • Teachers Lounge Upgrade –  Water coolers have been purchased for the Lower and MECC teacher’s lounges.   UPDATE:  The PTO purchased a new side-by-side refrigerator with ice/water in the door for the Lower Elementary lounge ($715 including installation charges).  We voted to spend $750 or less to purchase a similar refrigerator for the Upper teacher’s lounge instead of buying them a separate water dispenser and ice machine.
  • Pirate Chest/PTO Blog –  Angie Macias -  landbrokerlady@gamil.com – 918-284-3042. UPDATE:  Angie has been posting fundraisers for the PTO and other organizations.  Please contact her if you have any requests for the PTO Pirate Chest.
Fundraising
  • Movie Night Patti Nelson –  UPDATE:  There were 104 kids in attendance and the PTO made $702 (after expenses) at September’s movie night.  The next movie night is Friday, October 9th.
UPDATE:  Sale prices:  All T-shirts $10, Hoodies $20.  Several shirts were sold at the watermelon feed and first football game.  Traci McKnight volunteered to come up with new shirt designs to sell after the first of the year.  If you have design ideas, please send them to Traci.
  • Campbell’s Soup Labels – Jennifer checked and there are already accounts set up for the Lower & Upper.  We have volunteered to help the Lower manage their soup labels drive next year.  UPDATE:  Miss Aimee gave the PTO the okay to manage this fundraiser, possibly starting after the box tops campaign in October.  More to follow.
  • Fundraiser - Rustic Cuffs – Carrie Gustafson suggested selling Rustic Cuffs customized with Mannford’s school colors.   UPDATE:  Two other organizations in Mannford are selling Rustic Cuffs, it was decided not to pursue this fundraiser at this time.  This item is closed.

NEW BUSINESS
  • The Elementary Physical Education teacher has asked the PTO to pay for arrows for their new archery program.  $147.   This expense was approved.  This item is closed.
  • The 2nd grade teachers asked the PTO to pay for software for their new Ipads, approximately $250.  This expense was approved.  This item is closed.
  • The middle school has requested the PTO purchase 2 picnic tables for their playground.  Pricing will be presented at the next meeting.
  • Fundraising:  Kindra will research selling license plates.  Chris will check into getting caps to sell.  More info will be provided at the next meeting.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
  • Demand Project – Kindra Caruthers suggested sponsoring a seminar on sex trafficking for parents and older students.  The administration has approved so a date needs to be selected and coordinated with the high school principal.
  • Amazon Fundraiser – Jennifer will check into creating an account for PTO. UPDATE:  This project is on hold until the Tax Exempt Status is reviewed.
  • Fundraiser – School spirit Flip Flops – Jenifer Maxville Jenifer found a website that makes custom decorated flip flops and we discussed possibly using this as a fundraiser for next year.  According to the website, some schools make $10 to $15 per pair sold.  We also discussed the possibility of just using purple pirates and selling to Bristow as well.  UPDATE:  It was decided we would wait until early spring to distribute order forms.
