Sept' 2013 Agenda

MANNFORD  PTO  AGENDA

September 19, 2013
Call meeting to order.
Minutes from August 1 meeting
Treasurer’s Report from Kindra Caruthers
Back to School night was a success.  Next year need to be there for the freshman open house.  It was held the next day after all the other schools.  High School wasn’t busy, but need more volunteers at the lower and set up at the MECC for open house instead of meet the teacher night.
JDRF recap – Movie tickets were given to all kids who participated, by either giving $ to put up a shoe or walking.  Other prizes were given out by the foundation according to amount the child collected. We’ve given out around 200 movie tickets to the students.
Recap of Pirate Wear Sales.  Next year if we do coupons we need to specify for teachers use. We sold $800 in t-shirts at Watermelon feed.  We have a few shirts left to sell.  It’s time to think about hoodies and long sleeve tees. Spirit Accessories in Tulsa can fill order in 2 weeks, minimum of 25 to order.  Half down with order, paid in full when order picked up.
Homecoming is October 4.  PTO float?  The theme is Trash the Trojans.  Great way to get the word out that there is a PTO in Mannford.
Signup sheets for upcoming events.
  1. Lower Elementary Book fair & Friday night lights
  2. PTO movies nights  (Any suggestion for October movie?)
  3. Football games to sell shirts and hoodies (glow necklaces?)
  4. Bus duty at lower elementary  in afternoon
  5. Book Drive (collect books)
  6. Coat Drive (collect coats)
Guest Speaker - Jill Spess to speak on behalf of MECC and give us some information on the Carnival October 25 and what help they need.
Tulsa Oilers family night fundraisers.  Pre sell tickets for a specific home game and PTO receives a portion of the ticket price.  Possible a January game?
Book Drive -  Collect books for a literacy program at lower elementary and possible parent/teacher meeting sales.  Students can donate books from home and drop off in PTO collection box at school in the mornings.  PTO will collect and check over books.  Mr. Pierce is on board with this, I can talk to Mrs. Parker tomorrow.  Great way to clear out some of those books the kids have outgrown.
Coat Drive- Have students bring gently used jackets and coats to be donated to the Ministerial alliance for distribution.  Someone will need to chair a committee to do this.
New business to discuss
