Money has been set aside for the last 3 years to improve the playground at the upper. If the school doesn’t want any improvements made to the playground the PTO will decide how to spend the money allocated for this project.
  • School Dance – Kindra Caruthers – kcaruthers@ahb-ok.com 918-284-4249. The dance was Friday, Oct. 23rd. Update: The dance was successful but not a money maker. We discussed having it next year but with several changes, not calling it a dance or paying for a dj and having more activities for the boys. This item is closed.
  • Teachers Lounge Upgrade – Water coolers have been purchased for the Lower and MECC teacher’s lounges. The PTO purchased a new side-by-side refrigerator with ice/water in the door for the Lower Elementary lounge ($715 including installation charges). We voted to spend $750 or less to purchase a similar refrigerator for the Upper teacher’s lounge instead of buying them a separate water dispenser and ice machine. . UPDATE: A refrigerator was purchased for the upper for $400. This item will be moved to the things to remember section.
  • Pirate Chest/PTO Blog – Angie Macias - landbrokerlady@gamil.com – 918-284-3042. Angie has been posting fundraisers for the PTO and other organizations. Please contact her if you have any requests for the PTO Pirate Chest.
  • Picnic Tables for Middle School - The middle school has requested the PTO purchase 2 picnic tables for their playground. Pricing will be presented at the next meeting. UPDATE: Pricing examples were around $700. It was approved to spend $750 or less to purchase one table now. Traci volunteered to comparison shop for the table. Patti volunteered to provide trucking to save shipping costs if needed.
Fundraising
  • Movie Night Patti Nelson – UPDATE: There were 130 kids in attendance with approximately $800 in profit for November’s movie night. The next movie night is Friday, December 11th.
Sale prices: All T-shirts $10, Hoodies $20. Several shirts were sold at the watermelon feed and first football game. Traci McKnight volunteered to come up with new shirt designs to sell after the first of the year. If you have design ideas, please send them to Traci.
  • Campbell’s Soup Labels – Jennifer checked and there are already accounts set up for the Lower & Upper. We have volunteered to help the Lower manage their soup labels drive next year. UPDATE: A note will got out to students before Thanksgiving announcing the labels for education program. Bins will be put in both buildings and Kindra will ask Miss Aimee to update the school’s wishlist of on the labels website.
  • Fundraising: Kindra will research selling license plates. Chris will check into getting caps to sell. Chris suggested we consider selling beanie hats.
NEW BUSINESS
Fun Run/Walk for KidsNurse Jill asked if the PTO would consider sponsoring a fun run/walk for kids in the fall of 2016. Creek county has a program to promote healthy eating and exercise for kids and prizes are available thru that program. Nurse Jill volunteered to attend a PTO meeting in the spring to discuss the event.
Ice Cream Social - Traci McKnight suggested we have an Ice Cream Social fundraiser for the middle school, possibly early March. Chris Greenert will talk to the student council sponsor about the event. We could pre-sell tickets and have extra concessions available. It was also suggested we ask Braums for ice cream donations. More to follow.
Teacher Request – First Grade – Mrs. Morris requested the PTO to help pay for Brain Pop Jr. for one class room that would be shared. Total cost of $160 was approved. Third grade – We asked Melissa Cavenah if the 3rd grade needed anything along this line, she will get with the other 3rd grade teachers to decide what they want.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
  • Demand Project – Kindra Caruthers suggested sponsoring a seminar on sex trafficking for parents and older students. The administration has approved so a date needs to be selected and coordinated with the high school principal.
  • Amazon Fundraiser – Jennifer will check into creating an account for PTO. UPDATE: This project is on hold until the Tax Exempt Status is reviewed.
  • Fundraiser – School spirit Flip Flops – Jenifer Maxville Jenifer found a website that makes custom decorated flip flops and we discussed possibly using this as a fundraiser for next year. According to the website, some schools make $10 to $15 per pair sold. We also discussed the possibility of just using purple pirates and selling to Bristow as well. It was decided we would wait until early spring to distribute order forms.
  • Back-to-School Supplies – Patti Nelson – patticakes919@gmail.com 918-633-1511. The PTO is planning to pre-sell school supplies for the 2015-2016 school year for PK thru 5th grade. Patti Nelson volunteered to chair the project for the spring of 2016. We voted to keep the reduced price supplies that have been purchased ($451) for next year.
