Meeting Minutes  -  Jan 15, 2015

 The meeting was called to order by Kindra Caruthers

 Handouts:  Agenda, Treasurer’s Report, End of School Bash proposal

 Minutes from the December meeting were reviewed.

 The Treasurer’s report was reviewed and approved..

 Shirt Sales - Patti Nelson – patticakes919@gmail.com    918-633-1511

Volunteers are needed to sell shirts at HS Basketball games &Wrestling matches.  Traci McKnight will distribute home game/match schedule.

 Scholarship Run - Kindra Caruthers – carutherskindra@gmail.com  918-284-4249

The 5K Color run will be held on Saturday, March 28th 8:30 am at Salt Creek Recreation Area.  The committee is meeting directly following this meeting and will provide an update at the February meeting.

 End of School Bash – Lori White –  lori.white@yahoo.com  918-306-9694

Discussed the possibility of having the free event on May 15th instead of movie night, a parent would be required to attend.  The event will be at the Lower playground or city park for PK -5th grades.  Hot dogs, popcorn, water balloons, games, etc.

Follow-up with Mr. Norman regarding the list of playground safety issues for February meeting.

 Back-to-School Supplies – Traci McKnight – mcknight.traci@yahoo.com  918-804-9924.  

Yale Elementary tried asking the parents to pay $25 instead of buying school supplies, only about 60% paid.   Bulk prices were compared to Wal-mart prices on the current 1st grade supply list resulting in a 33% savings.  A more comprehensive comparison of the supply lists for PK – 5th grade will be presented at the February meeting. 

 Pirate Chest/PTO Blog –  Angie Macias -  landbrokerlady@gamil.com – 918-284-3042. 

Angie sent an email to school personnel informing clubs and organizations they could advertise on our blog.  One of the principals suggested we ask the school administration first.  Patti will discuss with school administration.

 School Dance – Kindra Caruthers

The PTO will be hosting a Kings & Princesses (dads & daughters) dance on Friday Feb. 13, 2015 at the Lower cafeteria.  The fundraiser will cost $20 per family for advance tickets and $25 at the door.  There will be cookies & punch, a DJ, a complimentary photo & candy gift bags. The $350 fee for a DJ was approved.

 Teachers Lounge Upgrade –The Lower has requested a bottled water cooler for the teacher’s lounge.  The purchase of a cold/hot water dispenser was approved.

 PTO Committee Contact List – Traci McKnight created the list but will add the contact information to the meeting minutes in the future.

 Food Truck Night Fundraiser - Jenifer Maxville – jenifermaxville@hotmail.com – 918-

645-5161,  Proposed having the food truck fundraiser the evening of the Watermelon Feed in August, possibly using the Lower parking lot.  Jennifer will research food truck vendors.  Patti will discuss with school administration.

 McDonald’s PTO Night – Kindra Caruthers – McDonalds is receptive of the idea however upper management needs to be contacted.  Follow-up at the February meeting.

 Discussed and approved buying a $50 page advertisement in the 

upcoming Pilot Club Fashion show program to promote PTO.

 Discussed putting the PTO blog address and email address on all hand outs and fliers.

 Sell bottled water at the watermelon feed in August

 Moms & Monsters dance in early October

  10 people were in attendance.
